The Four Steps of Every Great Journey

There is a consistent pattern in the stories of great men in women, throughout mythology, theology, and history; predictable elements in the lives of those who God wants to use and improve. Every great story is a journey, and every great journey is an invitation to others who wants to step out in faith and experience something deeper, richer, and bolder than the passive lull of a boring life.

1. The Call

A seemingly ordinary person is asked to engage in an act of extraordinary trust. That of stepping out of their comfort zone and into the unknown.

2. The Fear

God has an inextinguishable habit of asking people to do things that are scary to them. It may be a fear of inadequacy; a fear of failure; fear of others. But one way or another, there will be fear.

3. The Reassurance

Life has a way of affirming your path once you step out in faith. And you will find yourself being equipped with the tools you need to accomplish your vision.

4. The Decision

You will always make a decision. Either a decision to act, or a decision to pass. But in either case, there is always a changed life. Those who say yes learn and grow, even from their failures. But those who say no become a little harder, a little more resistant, a little more passive. Whatever the decision, it changes that life, and it changes the world that single life touches.

This pattern from history continues today. I believe there is an aspect in your life that you are being called to step out in faith. And when we say yes, it sets in motion an incredible dynamic far beyond what seems to make sense. Maybe it has to do with your work, or a talent you could develop, or resources you could give. Probably it will involve facing your deepest fear.  It will certainly go to the core of who you are and what you do.

So together through this work, we are going to learn the skills essential for this adventure. Answering the call, transcending fear, risking faith, managing failure, and trusting in something so much bigger than ourselves.

My hope is that you don't simply consume these resources. But that they prompt you to act, and say YES to the calling that's been placed on your mind and heart.

You were gifted to make a difference, and the world needs that special blend that only you have. What will will you do with it?
