"The more important an activity is to your soul's evolution, the more resistance you will feel to it -- the more fear you will feel."
What are the critical things that need to get done to push you (and your work) forward?
It can be easy to feel overwhelmed.
Don't listen to that voice in your head that only leads to fear, self-doubt, procrastination, and self-doubt. American author Steven Pressfield describes this face as creative Resistance. It it the destruct force inside each of us whenever we consider a tough, long-term course of action that might do good for us or others.
You will always face that sort of resistance when you engage in any act that rejects instant gratification in favor of long-term growth, health, or integrity. Any act that derives from our higher nature, instead of our base desires, will invite a destructive voice designed from keeping us from moving forward and upward. But denying that voice is a daily practice. It's as important as brushing your teeth. You don't do it once and it's done. It's rank odor will haunt you every morning unless you take steps to squash it. It's going to whisper those not-so-sweet nothings in your ear as long as you're alive to hear them. But swatting them away has to be a daily practice and a habit.
If any temptation sneaks in, train yourself to remember: "No, my life does matter. My gift does matter. There are people out there that need what I have to offer." And that's one of the things I truly believe: Every single human being on this planet has a unique set of gifts that only they can give. And if you don't give them, you are stealing from those who need you most.
When you have that level of depth with your responsibility to your genius, it's a lot easier to say mm "see ya" to the voices in your head and get out there and serve.
